Five former Intimidators on Sox 2013 Opening Day roster
The Chicago White Sox are taking five former Kannapolis Intimidators into battle as members of the 2013 Opening Day roster. Pitchers Dylan Axelrod (2009), Nate Jones (2008-09), Addison Reed (2011) and Hector Santiago (2008) join infielder Gordon Beckham (2008) as the quintet of K-dators that will open the season with the Sox.
The White Sox, which released their Opening Day roster yesterday, have several former Intimidators waiting in the wings in Double-A and Triple-A, so it’s safe to expect a handful of call ups throughout the year, depending on how things go at the big league level.
As for the 2013 Intimidators, the team arrived in town tonight and will have their first workout in Kannapolis tomorrow at 4 p.m. The ballpark will be open to fans that would like to come check out the squad and get a sneak peak at what to expect before the team departs for the season-opener on Lakewood, N.J., on Wednesday. Unlike years past, there won’t be exhibition games against the Dash or Knights. Instead, it’ll be two days to get ready before heading north to take on the BlueClaws.
The complete 2013 Intimidators roster will be announced tomorrow morning, so be sure to check IntimidatorsBaseball.com for the run down on Monday.
The season opens in four days. The home opener is in 11. Oh how sweet it is.
Josh Feldman is in his third season as the Director of Media Relations and Play-by-Play Voice of the Intimidators.
