Recapping Yesterday…Terry Doyle struck out
a season-high 14 batters but took the loss as he allowed a solo home run in the
4th inning, which was enough for victory for the Power as they added
another run late and won 2-0.
3-2-2…Through their first seven
four-game series the Intimidators have won three, tied two and won two.
Power Surge…Through their first
eight games this season, the Intimidators had just one home run. However, over
the past 21 games, the Intimidators have hit 19 home runs, four by Trayce
Thompson and five by Ian Gac. Thirteen of the home runs are solo shots.
Gac Attack…First-baseman Ian Gac
hit a home run to dead center field at State Mutual Stadium, 401 feet to the
wall and a 25 foot wall. He is one of three players in the seven-year history
of the stadium to do so. He also hit a home run over the wall to dead center at
Applebee’s Park, 401 to the wall and a 16 foot wall, the longest home run at
that stadium this season by 31 feet. He now has a league-leading 19 extra base
hits.
Doyle Dazzles…Intimidators pitcher
Terry Doyle leads the South Atlantic League in strikeouts with 48 in 40 innings
after six starts and is third in the league with a 1.13 ERA. Doyle has 25
strikeouts in his last two starts spanning 15 innings. He struck out 11 in
eight against Lakewood and 14 in seven against the Power. Over that span he has
not walked a batter.
Consecutive Colligan…With a hit in tonight’s
ballgame, Kyle Colligan will have a hit in 15 games straight, giving him the
longest such streak in the South Atlantic League.
Three is a Magic
Number…The
Intimidators are 11-4 when they score more than three runs and 12-3 when they
allow three runs or less.
